Private Alva Allen was the son of Jeremiah and Margaret Allen; he was born on April 14, 1895, near Bloomfield, Indiana. He was a farmer.
He enlisted in the Regular U.S. Army on April 17, 1917 and sent to Jefferson Barracks, Missouri where he was assigned to Company G, 18th Infantry. He was deployed overseas in June of 1917 and attached to the 1st Infantry Division. He received additional training at Houdencourt, France. He participated th the battles of Catigny and Argonne Forest. He as killed in action on October 4, 1918 in the Argonne Forest Drive. 1
He was buried at the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France.
