Ship's Cook Third Class Ronald J Siring, Colorado, Service #8768093, United States Naval Reserve, was serving aboard LST-921 when on 14 Aug 1944 it was torpedoed by the German submarine U-667, 11 miles southwest of Hartland Point, England. LST-921 broke in two parts, the stern sank immediately with 43 casualties, including Siring. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart.
