Morris served as a First Lieutenant & Bombardier on SB-24J #42-100277, 868th Bomber Squadron, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Buffalo County, Nebraska prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on April 4, 1942 Fort Francis E. Warren, Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in a transportation occupation and also as Single, without dependents.

SB-24J #42-100277 took off from Kornasoren Airport (APO #704), Noemfoor, Indonesia on a combat strike over Manado, Indonesia. Shortly after takeoff they experienced engine failure and crashed into the sea. The entire crew of 11 was lost in this crash which was due to bad weather (Thunderstorms).

Morris was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart.
