Michigan Marriages 1868-1925
Solomon P. Tanner to Ellie A. Ladow 23 Aug. 1878 Ionia, Ionia County, Michigan.

Solomaon married Ettie LaDow Ettie August 23, 1878 in Ionia County, Michigan.

The Ionia Standard, Friday, November 24, 1911

Solomon Perry Tanner, son of Solomon Tanner, was the 13th in a family of fourteen children, six of whom are still living: Judson, Marshall, Dora, Elizabeth, Dell and Carson.

He was born in Berlin township, April 19, 1856, his parents coming to this county in 1842, and Perry, as he was best known, having been a resident during his entire life of over 55 years.

Perry was married in 1878 to Etta Arstens LaDow. To this union were born seven children, four of whom are still living: Robert, Vernon, Abram and Lodema. Robert has been in Chicago and Vernon in Detroit, but both came home when their father's illness assumed a serious phase in August and have remained here since.

Perry was employed in the P.M. car shops for seventeen years and in the Ionia Wagon Works for eight years. For the last ten years he has worked on his farm at northern end of Union street. He was known as a faithful employee, a good citizen and an affectionate husband and father, seeking to do his duty in all the relations of life.

Death came to close his useful and unpretending life Nov. 16, 1911, and he passed away in the serene and peaceful manner most to be desired.

The funeral was from the home Saturday afternoon, the service by Rev. D. H. Shelly and the singing by Mrs. W. L. Peck and Mrs. Jessie Hicks, with Miss Greta Brooks at
organ.

Among those in attendance from out the city were: Judson Tanner, Stanton; Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Tanner, Berlin; and Mrs. Elizabeth Minier, Big Rapids.

The bearers were three sons and a nephew: Robert, Vernon, Abram and Fred Tanner. Interment, Highland Park.
