Services Slated for Hans Gardes
Funeral services were held for Hans Gardes, 65 at 2 p.m. October 1 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, with Rev. Henry Neirmann officiating.
Burial was in Bancroft cemetery.
Hans Gardes was born November 26, 1901 in Kelderoy Bernes, Germany of Gustav and Henry (Lange) Gardes.
Came to America to West Point when he was 19. He married Laura Preuss in 1932. They had one son.
His wife died in October 1957.
He remarried on June 18, 1960 to Iola Bargmann.
Recently he and his wife took a trip to his native land birthplace in Brehmen, German. Here he died suddenly September 25.
Survived by wife, son, and two grandchildren.
