Bert was born on a farm near Arthur on November 13, 1925 to Elmer and Jennie (McKinnon) Iwen. He graduated from Arthur High School in 1943 and from the N.D.A.C. School of Pharmacy in 1947. He married Joanne Lien on June 29, 1952 in Arthur. He was the owner and operator of the Arthur Drug from 1951 to 1991. Bert loved his family, gardening, music, and reading.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joanne and six children, Jonathan (Debbie), Detroit Lakes, MN, Peter (Beverly), Omaha, NE, Mary (Robert) Christiansen, Casselton, ND, Rachel (James) Kupfer, Fargo, ND, Samuel (Nancy) Anoka, MN, Abraham (Janine), Minneapolis, MN; seven grandchildren; a brother, Gerald (Hazel) Iwen, Minneapolis, MN; two sisters, Joyce Paul, Fargo, ND and Jackie Franke, Farmington, MN.
A private funeral service will be held, with interment in the Arthur Cemetery.
