Otto Herman Bluhm was born in Warthen, Germany; he was the son of Friedrich Bluhm and Anna Augusta Buettner.
After the death of his father on April 13, 1907, Otto Bluhm began making preparations to emigrate to America. On October 26, 1907, 17-year-old Otto Bluhm and his 19-year-old brother, Heinrich Bluhm, left from the port of Hamburg, Germany, on the liner, PRESIDENT GRANT. The ship docked in New York City on November 7, 1907. The two Bluhm brothers made their way to Rock Springs, in Sweetwater County, Wyoming. Later, other members of the Bluhm Famly, including Otto's widowed mother, immigrated from Germany to America in 1913, setting in Wyoming. Otto's brother, Heinrich, who made the voyage with Otto later moved from Wyoming and settled in Pennsylvania.
Otto H. Bluhm married Hulda Banik on Nov. 8, 1919, in Gerald, McLennan Co., Texas.
After their marriage, Otto and Hulda lived as next door neighbors to Hulda's parents in the Ross Community. From McLennan County, Otto and Hulda Bluhm moved to Rock Springs, Wyoming, where they were living when their first child was born. From there, Otto and Hulda returned to McLennan County, Texas, where they purchased a farm in the Gerald Community.

Funeral services for Herman Otto Bluhm, 43, who died in a Waco sanitarium at 3 p.m. Sunday, were held at the home near Elm Mott at 2 p.m. Tuesday and were continued in Gerald church with Rev. Alexander Greeb officiating. Burial was in Gerald cemetery with Aderhold in charge.
He is survived by his widow; three daughters, Wilma, Elda, and Annie Bluhm; one son, Emil Bluhm; his mother, Mrs. Fred Bluhm of Wyoming; three brothers and three sisters, all of Wyoming.
Pallbearers were Robert Baese, Adolph Horak, George Schuetz, Christav Schuetz, Herman Leuschner, Reinhold Baese.
