Michiels, 66, of Alexandria died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999, in Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital.
He was employed with Estorage Drug Company for over 42 years, retiring as vice president and buyer. He served 22 years with the National Guard, retiring with the rank of major. He was supply officer for the 256th Brigade. He was a member of the Reserve Officers Association of Louisiana, the Louisiana American Legion Post #1736 and a member of the VFW. He was a member of the AARP, Woodman of the World, a 1951 graduate of Menard Memorial High School and a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Michiels of Alexandria; one son, Randy Michiels of Alexandria; three daughters, Jackie Whitcher and Karen Brumley, both of Alexandria, and Lisa Stelly of Boyce; four sisters, Marion Turner, Regina Dunn and Wellena Salard, all of Alexandria, and Elaine Heitman of Lecompte; and five grandchildren.
A wake service will begin at 6:30 p.m. today in the funeral home. Friends may call from 2-9 p.m. today and from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
