J.T. Havis served in the war of Northern Aggression in Company E, of the Seventh Regiment. He was married October 9, 1864 in Franklin Co. Mississippi to Martha Jane Webb, who preceded him in death on March 7, 1912 and is buried in Liberty Cem., Liberty, MS. While at Beauvoir, he also married the widow Johnson. She is not listed as a survivor in his obit but she survived him and went on to remarry a Mr. Bell.
