GOERING
Ruth Rea Goering, daughter of Mary and Clell Heston, was born on Aug. 19, 1926, in Lucas County Iowa. She passed away June 16, 1996, at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 69.
Ruth was united in marriage at the age of 19 on Jan. 17, 1946, to Darrell Edwin Goering.
Throughout their marriage, they continued to live in Chariton where they owned an antique shop. Ruth later worked for the Lucas County Home Health Agency as a home health aide until retiring at the age of 62.
Ruth loved to spend time with her grandchildren, to be outdoors and animals. She also enjoyed playing bingo with her friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; brothers, Paul, Glenn and Gerald Heston and her sister, Viola Kinney.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Goering of Chariton; son, Larry Goering and wife, Nancy of Indianola; granddaughter, Lori McNeeley, whom Ruth raised; two sisters, Ruby Blanchard of Osceola and Mona Anderson of Chariton; grandchildren, Joshua, Emily and Sarah Goering of Indianola, and many other family members and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 19, 1996, at the Fielding Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis St. Lawrence officiating. Burial was in the Chariton Cemetery.
Serving as bearers were Francis Brown, Mike Blanchard, Violas Anderson, Garland Logsdon, Royal Peterson and Lance McFarland.
