Mrs. Mary Reese, 74, Platte township, died Thursday morning at 3 o'clock at her home, sucumbing to a stroke which she suffered 11 days ago. Funeral rites will be conducted by Rev. J. H. Klausmeier at the Thompson funeral chapel at 1:40 p.m. Saturday and at 2 o'clock at the Zion Lutheran church. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Mary Wolter was born in Rehm, Holstein, Germany, June 15, 1866. She was maried to Christian Reese March 16, 1899. They sailed for America in December, 1892, and settled at Everly, Iowa, in January, 1893. Two years later they settled in Sioux Valley township, Jackson county, Minnesota. Mr. Reese purchased 240 acres of wild land in Platte township in 1902 in partnership with Herman Nagel of Alpha. Mr. Reese died November 22, 1930, and after his death Mrs. Reese purchased Mr. Nagel's interest in the farm. Children surviving are Mrs. Andrew Kainz, Mrs. Theodore Rychner and Chrisitan, Jr., all of Platte township. Another daughter, Mrs. Frank Thompson of Lakefield, died January 17, 1921.
