William W. Leonard
William Wirt Leonard, son of the late Col. William Leonard and Isabelle White Leonard of Salisbury, died in his Baltimore home yesterday after a prolonged illness. He would have been 87 April 5.
Mr. Leonard was born in Salisbury where he spent his early life. He was graduated from Princeton University in the class of 1896 and while there he was a member of the Ivy Club, Glee Club and Triangle Club. He was also a graduate of the Maryland Law School, Baltimore.
Mr. Leonard is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nellie Jackson Leonard, and a daughter, Mrs. Ogden Nash, wife of the well known poet, of New York City.
There are two grandchildren, Mrs. John M. Smith of Baltimore and Mrs. Frederick Eberstadt of New York City and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Everett E. Jackson and Mrs. Edward R. Griffith of Baltimore.
Mr. Leonard's wife is the sister of the late Mrs. A. J. Vanderbogart of Salisbury, who died this winter in Baltimore.
Funeral services will be held in Baltimore tomorrow at 11 a.m. and burial will be in Parsons Cemetery here at 3:30 p.m.
