Gary had a battle with encephalitis at about the age of 5, went into a coma for a few days, but had a full recovery. At approx. the age of 12 or so, he had been experiencing extreme lower back pain, after several months of taking him to several doctors, they determined that he had a tumor "IN" his spinal cord. The chances of him being able to walk were slim, but again he beat it. He not only walked, but painted grain bins, water towers, etc. Loved basketball, both playing & watching. He loved to watch football. He LOVED to be up high. Even though he worked full time as a Case manager for DFC (welfare), he still enjoyed the work of painting at high elevations (High Elevation Painting) was the name of his business.
Everyone was shocked to learn that he had been electrocuted painting a 'barn roof', we'd always worried about his falling from his extremely elevated jobs, instead a simple barn roof for a friend and him using his aluminum ladder instead of the fiberglass one.

Gary never married or had children.
