Troy Varney, 80, of Varney, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on May 13, 2005, at his home. He was born November 1, 1924, in Logan County, to the late Rev. Bill and Florance Varney. Mr. Varney is preceded in death by granddaughter, Ashley Alley; brothers, Ray Varney, Happy Varney, Dan Varney and Thirl Varney; and special nephew, Duke Varney.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He also was a member of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Varney was very proud of the United States Flag.
Survivors include his wife, Darlies June Varney; seven children, Greg (Phylis) Varney of Warsaw, Ind., Terry (Linda) Varney of Varney, W.Va., David (Sharron) Varney of Huntington, W.Va., Johnny (sherry) Varney, Joann (Scott) Hefelginer, Shena Mohler, Troy C. Varney, all of Tennessee; brothers, Curtis Varney, Ted Varney, Eddie Varney; sisters, Betty, Nannie and Donnie; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. Grandchildren are Mickie, Nicole, Renea, Crystal, Angel, David, Shasta, Terry, Shannon, Darrell, Jessica, Sara, Anthony, Kellie, Jamie, Amanda, Kayleigh, Tommy, Ashley Alley. Great grandchildren are K.J., Ariel, Ryleigh, Ethan, Allyson, Skylar, Sierra, Pheonix, Kali, Delaney, Joey, Olivia, Elijah, Maddison, Presley, Brooklyn, Alexandria, Baby Stots.
He is loved and greatly missed.
Visitation will be Sunday and Monday evening from 6 - 9 p.m. at the Pie Church of God, Varney, W.Va.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Pie Church of God with the Rev. Mitchell Bias and Rev. Paul Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Varney Cemetery at Varney, W.Va.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chafin Funeral Home, Delbarton, W.Va.
