MRS. MANTEUFFEL, FORMER RESIDENT,
DIES AT STREATOR
Funeral services for Mrs. Susan Manteuffel, widow of the late Rev. Max Manteuffel, who died Wednesday, December 2, 1964, at St. Mary's hospital, Streator, IL, where she had been a patient for 14 weeks, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Varna, IL. The Rev. Thomas A. Richert, pastor, conducted the service. Mrs. Gerhardt Bade presided at the organ. Burial was in the church cemetery (St. Pauls Cemetery) at Varna.
Pallbearers were Arthur Holz, Carl Schoepke, Gerhardt Bade, Louis Phillips, Ernest Lenz, and Carl Kemnitz, all officers of the church.
The late Rev. Manteuffel, who died in 1961, was pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church for 22 years.
After his retirement, he and Mrs. Manteuffel lived in Henry with their daughter, Frances, a teacher in the Henry schools. For the past 13 years, Mrs. Manteuffel has lived with her daughter in Streator.
Surviving with her daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Brumfield (Frances) of Streator, are five other children, Mrs. Otto
(Ruth) Dietrich of River Forrest; Alfred of Oak Park; Mrs. Albert (Esther) Steffen of Vincennes, IN; Walter of Appleton, WI; and Immanuel of Rock Island.
