Ferdinand Lau, 71, Town of Lomira, retired farmer and former cheese maker, died on June 20, 1959 at Beaver Dam Lutheran Hospital after having been in ill health for three months.
Ferdinand was born January 26, 1888 in Dunn County, Wisconsin the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Lau. On November 24, 1910 Ferdinand married Lucilia Heldt.
Active in community circles, Ferdinand was a former member of the Knowles fire department, Clerk for 30 years for Hickory School District 30, and treasurer for 25 years for St. Petri’s Lutheran Church. Prior to his marriage he was a cheese maker in Rubicon, Wisconsin.
Surviving are his wife Lucilia; children Harvey (Nora) Lau of town Theresa, Lorinda (Vilas) Adelmeyer of South Byron, Ruben (Hortensia) of town Lomira, Bernice (Harvey) Lindert and Norma (Robert) Walther of Mayville, Vernon (Betty) of Theresa, and Palmer (Eleanore) of town Lomira. Also 20 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild plus brothers Louis of town Herman, Herman and Walter of Hustiford and sister Emma (George) Buerger of Milwaukee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ludwig and Marie Lau and brothers Emil (age 15) and Ernst (age 14) and John Lau.
