She was born November 9, 1933 in Alliance to Thomas and Blanche (Ustohal) Prochazka. Dorothy graduated from Hemingford High School in 1951.
In 1953 she was united in marriage to Bernard Kulas. To this union 6 children were born, Carol, Arlene, Bruce, Laurie, Anita and Sharron. They made their home on their farm north of Alliance.
Dorothy loved to cook, garden, read, needle point and enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports. She was proud of her Czech heritage and enjoyed traveling, especially to Czech festivals. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was generous, kind hearted and giving.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard, her children, Carol Ramsey of Alliance, Arlene Kulas and friend, Danny Sydow of Littleton, CO, Bruce and wife Gail Kulas of Hemingford and Laurie Timbers and friend Jay Galyen of Alliance and her beloved dog, Charlie. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tayna Timbers, Ryan Ramsey, Kristen Buskirk, Holly Brock, Kayla Lore, Shawn Timbers and Andrea Kulas and 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Darold (Liz) Prochazka, and sister, Shirley (Ted) Underwood of Alliance, her brother-in-law, Joe Kulas of Alliance as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughters, Sharon in infancy in 1966, and Anita in 1986, her parents, her sister Eleen Kulas and her brother, Richard Prochazka.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 16 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church with Father Lou Nollette officiating. Burial will be in the Hemingford Cemetery. Wake services will be Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the church. Visitation will be in Alliance at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials may be given to the Hemingford Volunteer Firefighters Association.
