Born Sept. 23, 1951, in Butler, he was a son Madeline "Sis" (Weiland) Neff and the late James "Ed" Neff.
He was self-employed as the owner of Francis J. Neff tax preparation and accounting, which he operated for over 30 years. He was devoted to his business and was known as the Wizard for his incredible tax skills.
He was a member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Carbon Center, the American Legion in Mount Jewett, the Chicora Moose and the East Butler Volunteer Fire Department.
Fritz was an avid sports fan, he especially loved the Pittsburgh Penguins, Steelers and Pirates. He was a former coach for Chicora softball, had enjoyed his family camp in Mount Jewett and was loved by his many friends and all who knew him.
Surviving are his mother, Madeline "Sis" Neff of Butler; four brothers, Larry E. Neff and his wife, Kay, Gary L. Neff, and his wife, Nancy, Douglas Neff and John Neff, all of Butler; two sisters, Carol Neff Rottman and Connie Severino, both of Butler; eight nieces and nephews; four great-nieces and great-nephews; his dear close friend, Nancy; and many other friends who were like family.
He was preceded in death by his father, James "Ed" Neff; and a sister, Diana Lynn Neff.
NEFF - Friends of Francis J. "Fritz" Neff, who died Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 until 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, 210 St. Wendelin Road, Carbon Center. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
