Wilma was born in Boon on June 5, 1918 to William and Katora (Ward) Michael and was the youngest of nine children. She married Maurice McConnell in 1934 and lived at Meauwataka all her married life. Wilma was a mother and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, embroidering, stamp collecting, putting picture albums together, puzzles and writing letters to friends and relatives. She always did a lot of canning, freezing, baking and cooking. She taught sewing to the 4-H kids. She liked people and enjoyed her neighbors, friends and relatives. She made many friends at Autumnwood. She also loved cats and music and loved being with her family. Wilma was baptized into the Seventh Day Adventist Church at Mesick in 1960 where she taught the children's Sabbath School, Vacation Bible School and was church treasurer for several years.
Surviving is her son, Larry (Joyce) McConnell; daughters, Alyce Wright, Diana (Craig) Soule and Cheryl (Dick) Masten; 13 grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Maurice on May 22, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law Phyllis & Jacque Stickney in an auto accident in 1964 and by all her siblings, Ward, Warren, Forrest, Philo, Leona, Eva, Marie and Georgia.
