Robert (Bob) John Laurie, a proud resident of San Antonio, Texas for almost 50 years, went to be with our Lord September 8, 2010. He has been reunited with his beloved daughter, Kimberly Lynn Laurie. Bob was survived by his loving wife of 46 wonderful years, Sandra (Sandy) Lea Person Laurie. Bob was also survived by his sons and their wives, his grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law, a nephew and a niece.
Bob was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on August 5, 1939, to Richard and Elizabeth Laurie. Beginning in 1957, Bob attended the University of Cincinnati for two years and became a loyal member of the Ohio Theta Chapter of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. In 1963, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Trinity University in San Antonio. Bob also served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves from 1960-1965. In 1966, he began his dedicated and outstanding civil service career working in the Civilian Personnel Office at Kelly Air Force Base (AFB). Bob served as a supervisor in the Training, Staffing, Employee Relations and Classification sections within the Civilian Personnel Office of Kelly AFB and received numerous accolades during his entire 34-year Civil Service career. Bob and Sandy loved to spend time with their most precious grandchildren. Upon his retirement, he and his wife greatly enjoyed their travels to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Great Britain, Alaska, Canada, Hawaii, the California wine country, and their annual trip to South Padre. Bob was a life-long avid sports fan who actively followed his favorite teams, the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Cowboys. He had many hobbies and interests, which included reading books, seeing movies and daily jogs in the park. Bob took great delight in being a devoted father by supporting his children through their athletic endeavors and was a daily fitness and sports participant. A foundation to his family and a friend to many, Bob will never be forgotten.
