Walter Florian Schwenk was the second child (of eight) born to Joseph Xavier and Susan Clara (Fandel) Schwenk of Woodford County, IL. He married Gertrude Catherine Michael (1900-1975) on June 6, 1923. She was the daughter of August and Elizabeth Ann (Seipel) Michael. One son was born to Walter and Gertrude in 1939. Walter's siblings are as follows:
