Arthur J. Havekost, 90, of Morris, passed away late Monday evening, June 22, 2009 at Morris Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Arthur was born November 05, 1918 in Coleridge, Nebraska, a son of the late Herman and Bertha (Ordeman) Havekost. He grew up and received his education in Coleridge. On April 17, 1941 he married Dorothy Mitchell in the First Lutheran Church in Plano. Most of their married life was spent farming in rural Mazon until 1990 when they moved to Morris. He was a Veteran of W.W. II and served in the U.S. Army 33rd Division in the Philippines.

Surviving are three sons, Wesley (Patricia) Havekost of Dwight, James (Arlene) Havekost of Seneca and John (Terry) Havekost of Quitman, TX; one daughter, Arlene Murray of Muscatine, IA; five grandchildren, four step grandchildren
and five great grandchildren; one brother, Paul Havekost of Coleridge, NE; one sister-in-law, Thelma Havekost of Milford, NE. Several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Dorothy on April 25, 2005; one son, Richard Havekost; one granddaughter, Sara Havekost; three brothers, Paul, Alvin and Robert Havekost and one sister, Frances Edderson.

He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
