Edwin P. Kline, 88, of Alpena, Michigan, passed away Friday, September 3, 2010 at Alpena Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Edwin was born January 13, 1922 in Belknap Township to the late John Kline and Theresa (Kurkerwicz) Kline. Ed served in the United States Army during WWII, where he received the Purple Heart. He married Regina "Virg" Zmyslony on October 26, 1946. She preceded him in death on June 16, 1993. On June 26, 1999 he married Evelyn Halkides. She preceded him in death on December 17, 2007. Mr. Kline retired from Huron Portland Cement Company in 1986. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, VFW Post 2496 and a lifetime member and past commander of the DAV. Edwin was very proud of the fact that he lived longer than anyone else had in his family.

Surviving were 6 children; Cathy Hays, Carol (Robert) Smart, Daniel (Grace Ann), Fred (Maria), Cheryl (Dave) Bauer all of Alpena, Tom of Grand Rapids; 12 grandchildren; Laura, Angela Molter, Matthew Smart, Stacie (Chris) Nielsen, Christopher, Heather, Amanda, Nathan Kline, Lauren, Jacob, Nathan Bauer, Jennifer (Dave) Geurkink, Megan (Brian) Jones; 7 great grandchildren; Joshua, Christopher, Alec Molter, Gavin, Caroline Geurkink, Harrison, Sadie Jones; Evelyn's children; Wayne and wife Nancy Halkides, Duane and Renee Halkides, and Beth Ann and Michael Wiebelhaus.

Edwin Kline was preceded in death by an infant daughter Cynthia, 5 brothers; Andrew Kline, John Kline, Emil Haske, Raymond Kline, Louise Kline; 2 sisters; Gertrude Bleau, Veronica Werda, a son in law Bill Hays, and Evelyn's daughter Debra Dempsey.
