Harry E. Centner, 92 of Dunkirk died Saturday August 14, 2010 in Dunkirk. He was born June 29, 1918 on the family farm in the Town of Dunkirk, the son Ferdinand and Ella (Brinkman) Centner. He was a 1936 graduate of Dunkirk High School.

A life-long farmer on the Chestnut Road Farm, he had been active in the Fredonia Grange No. 1 (Past Master), National Grape Co-op, Pomfret C & E, Chautauqua County Extension, and a 4-H tractor leader. He was a member of the United Church of Christ of Dunkirk, having served as treasurer, on the church council and a member of the choir.

Mr. Centner is survived by his wife Mary Ellen (nee Lesch) and they were blessed with more than 63 years together. Besides his wife, he is survived by three children; Harry A. (Janet) Centner of Fredonia, Terence J. ( Mary Ann) Centner of Watkinsville, GA and Jean E. (William) Laubengayer of Kendall, NY and four grandchildren; Robert Laubengayer of Baldwinsville, NY, Karen Laubengayer of Gothenburg, NE, Ann Centner of Athens, GA, and John Centner of Watkinsville, GA. He is also survived by three step-granddaughters and three step-great-granddaughters.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister Florence M. Centner of Fredonia, his sister Mabel L. Centner of Deltona, FL., and infant daughter June Henrietta Centner.
