Thomas Nicolaus Carstens, former Clinton man, died Saturday afternoon in Dixon, Ill. The body has been brought to the H.F.C. Behr funeral parlors where services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Springdale cemetery.
Thomas Nicloaus Carstens was born April 12, 1841 in Sollwitt, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. He was united in marriage to Anna C. Hansen of Hattstead, Germany, May 29,1864. To them were born seven children, Thomas M. Carstens of Clinton, Mrs. Kate Peterson of Hoquiem, Washington, Mrs. Anna Wollaston of Dixon, Ill., Cornelius N. Carstens of San Francisco, Calif., John T., Henry J., and Francis, who preceded the parents in death. His wife died sixteen years ago. He leaves his four children, twenty-four grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Mr. Carstens came to America in 1874, making his home in Jones county. Later he moved to Bryant and in the spring of 1880 came to Clinton. The last nine years he had resided with his daughter in Dixon.
Mr. ans Mrs. Carstens celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary May 29,1914 in their home, 1018 Liberty Avenue.
