Obit: Roland Bass was putting the last load of hay at his barn and while two hands were forking it in the hay mow with a hay fork Mr Bass was working beside the mow and by either falling or his feet slipping from under him he went down to the upper floor and being in line with the schute or opening through which hay was put down, he went through the opening and struck on the concrete floor, breaking his neck. Roland Bass was united in marriage to Miss Sarah E (cannot read) December 4, 1879 and two sons and a daughter were born to this union, The daughter Grace died January 19, 1898 age 5 mo and 9 days. Roland Bass was the fourth child of the late Thomas and Sarah Bass and was born in Washington County Missouri.
