Sweet Corn was a Dakota leader who had a village on the west side of Lake Traverse in section 11 of Bryant township, Roberts County, South Dakota. He was among the treaty delegation that traveled to Washington, D.C. in 1858. He earned his name for developing a sweet type of corn. Most of his band did not participate in the 1862 Dakota uprising on the upper Minnesota River. However, some identified him as a participant in the attacks on Fort Abercrombie. Sweet Corn died in 1888.

I visited Sweet Corn's grave with my dad when I was younger. I went with Neil and Margaret Simonson to see the grave again in 2008.
