"SAGE OF HONEOYE" DIED LAST WEDNESDAY

Benjamin Peer, better known as the "Sage of Honeoye Falls" died at his home there last Wednesday, following a short illness.

Probably no man in this community was more widely known than Mr. Peer. Through his numerous activities, in different parts of this community, he formed an extended circle of acquaintances and they will mourn his loss, because of the good he has done and because of his many kind acts. He purchased the present headquarters of the American Legion in Honeoye Falls and transferred the property to the Legion. He developed certain portions of the village into streets, of which one street bears the name of Peer.

He was one of the first men in this state to operate an apple drying plant and his business was large. Hop growing was another industry he carried on for many years and recently, he devoted much time to promoting dances and social activities in this vicinity.

He was a real booster for Gov. Roosevelt and the entire Democratic ticket and was planning a series of events for the promotion of these candidates.

Funeral services were largely attended last Friday afternoon and burial was made in the Honeoye Falls cemetery.
