Jr. was born on August 18, 1933 in McDowell, WV to the late James V. Pennington, Sr. and Ruth Blevins Pennington. He was a retired Chief Master Sergeant in the U. S. Air Force, having served for 26 years, 1 month and 7 days. He was a member of the First Assembly of God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Jean Snow Pennington; and two sisters, Jo Ann Allen and Carol Chizmar.
Survivors include his son, Tim Pennington and wife Deanna of Abingdon, VA; his grandson, Matthew Pennington and wife Billie Jo of Mountain City; three great grandchildren, Josh, Cody and Haley.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2007 at Mountain City Funeral Home with the service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Meadows officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by Johnson County Honor Guard. The committal service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28th in Phillippi Cemetery.
The family will also receive friends at the home of his grandson, 2149 Highway 421 N., Mountain City.
