Silas Pearson Pope was born on 20 Dec 1855 in Neenah, Wisconsin, and died on 21 Oct 1924 in Madera County, California. He was the son of Martius Linus Pope and Mary Catherine Smith, both of New York. Grandson of Eliphalet Stickney Pope and Sabrina Wood. Husband of Matilda Julia Wetzel, the daughter of Gustavus Moritz Wetzel and Bertha Liebrecht. They were married 23 July 1880 in Elm Creek, Martin, Minnesota, and had the following children:

* Francis Clyde Pope, 1882-1945
* Walter Ross Pope, 1885-1966
* Mildred Irene (Mrs. Ralph McMasters), 1888-1977
