Funeral services for Melvin Lyle Mitchell, 16, of Livingston, were held Monday morning in Holbrook United Methodist Church. The Rev. Owen Arrington officiated. Music was provided by LuAnn Skatttum, Mary Lou Howell and Barbara Vietz.
Interment was in Park View Gardens. Pallbearers were Charlie Blakeslee, Robert Brawner, Craig Yost, Duane Colmey, Sam Ricci and John Ruggles. Honorary pallbearers were Bob and Scott Lemon, Chuck Hotes, Zackery Woodhall and Kevin Funk.
He was born January 14, 1961 in Livingston, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin G. Mitchell. He attended school through the seventh grade at Pine Creek and attended eighth grade in Livingston Middle School. At the time of his death, he was a sophomore at Park Senior High School.
He had been a member of the freshman and junior varsity football teams and was a six year member of the Brisbin Progressors 4-H Club. He was also a member of Pine Creek Methodist Church, the Burlington Northern Explorer Scout Troop, and he was a junior member of the Holstein-Friesen Association.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Laura of the family home; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Mitchell of Livingston; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ruby Leiker of Livingston; maternal grandfather, Theron J. Burnett of Pilot Rock, Oregon; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
