Mark Mitchum was the firstborn of 10 children. His parents were Thomas "Troy" Mitchum and Hattie Ann Meyers Mitchum of Mineral Wells, Palo Pinto, Wise Co., Texas, He was a member of the Methodist Church and of the Masonic Lodge in Chico, TX. He was a retired oil field worker. He married Jessie Posey in Cement Okla. and they were the parents of one son, Donald Lee Mitchum. They were later divorced, and she remarried. (Her Findagrave memorial is 178925541.)
His obituary published in the Bridgeport Index, Bridgeport, TX on November 30, 1978 lists survivors as four sisters: Jerry Davis, Eastland; Mollie Marlett, Jacksboro; Maxine Hadley, Olden; and Norma White, Rush Springs, OK. It also says that he is survived by three grandchildren.
