Another Marshall county pioneer citizen passed away Sunday in the person of Mrs. Johanna Cain who died at her home near Beattie that morning at four o'clock at the age of seventy-nine years. The funeral was held Tuesday morning from St. Malachy's Catholic church at 10:00 o'clock, the services being conducted by Rev. Father James Ryan. Interment was made in the Beattie cemetery. Deceased was born in the county of Limerick, Ireland, in 1832. With her parents, Mr. and Mrs. FitzGerald, she emigrated to the United States in 1851, the family settling in the eastern states. They came to Kansas in 1958 and located near Atchison where on December 22, 1861, she was united in marriage to Edward Cain. They removed to Marshall county in 1865 and took up their home on the homestead near Beattie, the present home of the family. She is survived by five children - four sons and one daughter who are: John of Lincoln, Nebr., James and Patrick of Beattie and Peter and Miss Mary who live on the home farm.
