Jesse Adam Shifflett, Jr. 74, of White Hall, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at a local nursing home. Born in Albemarle County on Jan. 24, 1926, he was the son of the late Jesse Shifflett and Ruth Roberts Shifflett. He also was preceded in death by two-brothers, Alvin Shifflett and Clinton Shifflett. Mr. Shifflett was a member of Mount Moriah United Methodist Church and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He was retired from Acme Visible Records with 30 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Genevieve McDaniel Shifflett; a son, William Earl "Billy" Shifflett and his wife, Janice, of Earlysville; a daughter, Evelyn Shifflett Gibson and her husband, Roger, of White Hall; four sisters, Mrs. Everette "Maye" Thomas, Mrs. Mervin "Gladys" Sandridge, Mrs. Morgan "Anna" Garrison, and Mrs. Cecil "Faye" Gibson, all of White Hall; one brother, Garwood Shifflett and his wife, Dorothy, of Charlottesville; three grandchildren, Craig Gibson and his wife, Amy, of Palmyra, Lisa Johnson and her husband, William Earl "Billy" Johnson of Free Union, and Kevin Shifflett and his wife, Tina, of Ruckersville; and five great-grandchildren, Kirstie, Andrew, Amaya, Preston and Burgundy. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mount Moriah United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Brenneke officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery.
