Joseph H. Lierz, well known and successful farmer passed away at his home in Frankfort Kansas on Friday morning at 6:00 a.m. following a brief illness, after being stricken
with a heart attack the evening before, Mr. Lierz was 50 years of age.
Mr. Lierz was taken ill while at work on his farm at about 4:00 p.m. on Thursday and had climbed down from a hay rake before he became unconscious.
Mr. Lierz was born at Seneca, Kansas and was the son of Peter Lierz. He was married to Miss Mary Rottinghaus in 1914 and they came to Frankfort in 1920 to make their
home.
Mr. Lierz was successful in his farming ventures, and was a man of good judgment and devoted his life to his farming interest. His sudden death came as a great shock.
Besides his wife, Mary; he is survived by ten children, Gertrude, Henry, Genevieve, Cyril, Joseph, Raphael, Alvin, Anna, Mary and Rosina; four brothers, Henry Lierz,
Frankfort, Kansas, John Lierz and George Lierz, Seneca, Kansas, Peter Lierz, of Baileyville, Kansas and Maggie Fox; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at Annunciation Catholic Church on Monday morning with Father James A. Ording officiating.
Burial was in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Frankfort, Kansas.
