On September 1939 when John was 23 years old he entered the United States to attend Harvard University for 4 years. He then married his Bride, Helen Delaney On the 17th of June, 1944 in Boston, Massachusetts.
John was a former Member of Parliament from 1955 to 1963 and the Liberal Party Leader from 1957 to 1963.
After the death of Helen he remarried for the 2nd time to Elizabeth Lang in 1980.
He passed away at the age of 77 years. of the ALS Disease and was buried in the family plot on December 23, 1993 in Kitchener's Mount Hope Cemetery.
He is survived by 6 children, Judith, Mary Ellen, James, John Junior, Gretchen, and Sara.
