Mrs. Lobitz (nee Ketcher) was born near Watertown, Carver County, on October 31, 1858, the daughter of Michael and Augusta Ketcher. She was baptized in the Lutheran Church and on December 21, 1873 confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In 1878 she was united in marriage to Herman Lobitz, the couple establishing a home on the fine Lobitz farm in Lakeside.
On March 4, 1898, the husband died of injuries sustained in an accident. The issue of this marriage was fifteen children, five of the children preceding the mother in death.
Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Lobitz took over management of the farm, remaining on the farm until 1920 when she bought a home in Waconia. She resided here until three months ago, when she went to the live at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Hill near Mayer.
Services were held at the Hill home and at the Trinity Lutheran Church Monday afternoon with interment in the Trinity Cemetery. The Rev. Schneider officiated the services at the house, church and grave.
The pallbearers were six of her sons: Carl Lobitz, Theodore Lobitz, Frank Lobitz, Henry Lobitz, Harry Lobitz and Herman Lobitz. The floral tributes were carried by Stella Baumann, Evelyn Rudloff, Lucille Hill, Elvira Lobitz, Doris Lobitz, Norma Hill, Waive Hill, Willard Lobitz and Gladys Lobitz.
Surviving are eight sons and two daughters; John of Watertown Township, Carl of Waconia, Lena of Victoria, Oscar of Delano, Theodore of Victoria, Frank on the home farm, Laura (Mrs. A.C. Hill) of Mayer, Henry of Waconia, Harry of Minneapolis, Herman of Waconia; also 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Lobitz was a faithful and devout member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, a kind mother. Her cheerful, helpful life; her devotion to her children; her kindness, will long linger as a fragrant memory.
