Delia Griffith Fisher was born in Benton county, Iowa on January 7, 1869, one of a family of 7 sons and 2 daughters born to Isaac and Elvina Myers Griffith.
Always farmers, the family came in 1881 to a farm in Wright county where Delia grew to womanhood, being educated in the country schools of that time.
In 1891 she was married to Alonzo Fisher.
To them were born a son and three daughters, all are married and living in or near Eagle Grove. They are, Norman, Lulu (Mrs. Glen Baker), Tressa, (Mrs. Oved Watson), and Louise (Mrs. Richard Knutson) in whose home the mother was tenderly cared for during her long illness. Alonzo Fisher died in 1937.
Hers was the highest type of Christian womanhood, kind and charitable, with wide sympathies. A devoted and understanding mother, her wise counsels will continue to be a benign influence in the lives of her family, and she was ever a steadfast and loyal friend. She gave unstintedly of her time, her talents and her substance in the worship of her Master, and her years of membership in the church, of which she was a charter member, are record of loyal and continuous service.
Her life came to an end on the morning of Monday, July 30. She is mourned by her four children, five grand children and five great-grandchildren, her only sister, Mrs. Lou Pletcher and two brothers.
