Alexander L. Bahr was born Dec 1871 in Indiana. He was the son of William Frederick Bahr who was born in 1841 in Holstein, Germany (states on 1870 Census from Prussia, Germany) and died 12 Jan 1911 in Evansville, Indiana
and Mary E. Downey Bahr who was born in Jan 1847 in Indiana and died in 1912. They were married 6 Jun 1865. William and Mary had six children:

1. Julius S. Bahr born 1867. He worked as a street car driver.

2. Charles J. Bahr born 18 Feb 1868 Indiana died 1936. Married Cora E. Keck 24 Jul 1911. He worked as a farmer, mail carrier, and a conductor of the Evansville Street Railway.

3. Augusta J. Bahr born Mar 1870 Indiana married a Gus Wolley after 1910.

4. Alexander L. Bahr born Dec 1871 Indiana and died 13 Jan 1902 Evansville, Ind. He married 25 Jan 1899 Mayme A. Jantz born 30 May 1873 and died Jul 1968. They had one child, Wilfred Alexander Bahr born 16 Jun 1900 Evansville, Ind. and died 8 May 1986 in Evansville. Alexander worked as a salesman and Street Car Driver and was a Teamster. Mayme remarried after Alexander's death to George Rodgers.

5. J. Albert Bahr born 1873 and died 1879.

6. William Fredrick Bahr Jr. born 9 Jul 1875 in Evansville, Ind. and Died 22 Dec 1935 in Louisville, Jackson, Kentucky. William married in 1896 Julia W. Repetto born Jun 1880 Kentucky and died 20 Jan 1968 Louisville, Jackson, Ky. They had 4 children : 1. Mary Ellen Bahr b. 20 Feb 1897 in Louisville, Ky d. 19 Nov 1974 in Louisville, Ky. She married in 1913 to John Cornell b. 27 Apr 1894 Floyd Co., In and d. 7 Jan 1965 Louisville, Ky. 2. Edna Bahr b. 20 Feb 1897 Louisville, Ky died 11 Dec 1910 Louisville, Ky. 3. Joseph Bahr b. 10 Sept 1904 Louisville, Ky. 4. Florence A. Bahr b. 27 Feb 1906 Louisville, Ky and she married about 1925 to Charles Clark. Florence died 14 Jan 1989 Fresno Co., Calif.

William Frederick Bahr Sr. served in the Civil War for the Union. He was in Company C 1st Regiment Indiana Cavalry. He was a private when he entered at Evansville and a Sergeant when he came out. He filed on 3 May 1904 for a pension and Mary filed as widow 20 Jan 1911 for benefits.
He was a farmer and then Superintendent for Evansville Street Railway for many years.

William Frederick Sr., Mary E., J. Albert, Charles J., and Alexander L Bahr are all buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville, Ind.

William Frederick Bahr Sr. was also a Charter member and Past Chancellor Commader of the Knights of Pythias instituated 11 Mar 1891. It was the only German K of P lodge ever instituated in Evansville and worked under the German ritual until the ritual was revoked by the supreme
lodge.
