Leon Robert Mechler, age 87, of Western Bexar County, TX was born November 20, 1922 to Robert William Mechler and Laura Mangold Mechler. He passed away October, 24, 2010 in Castroville, TX. Leon was preceded in death by both parents.
He was a wonderful husband and father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather, and a farmer and cattle rancher. Leon was an honest man, with so many loving qualities, and he will be missed by all. We will treasure our time with him and our memories forever.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Eloise Haegelin Mechler, sons Bob Mechler and his wife Connie Daily of Pine, Colorado, Lindy Mechler and his wife Rita of Western Bexar County, TX, Gary Mechler and his wife Cindy of College Station, TX, and daughter Laurie Mechler and her husband Michael Brown of Keller, TX; sister Doris Schuchart of Rio Medina, TX; grandchildren and spouses Shelly (Norm) Galyon, Natalie Mechler, Cassie (Chris) Conger, Courtney (Jake) Poulsen, Chelsea Mechler; numerous step grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandson, and nieces and nephews.
The Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home will be open for visitation on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated by Fr. Paul Cleary on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste, TX. Interment will follow the Mass at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery
