Funeral services for Mark Weckwerth, 68, of Milaca, will be held today (Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003) at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca with the Rev. Janeva Stromberg officiating. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Burial will be at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca. Military honors will be provided by Hansen-Hayes American Legion Post #178 and Siemers-Hakes VFW Post #10794.Ý Pallbearers will include Dick Becker, Dick Stewart, David Dahlstrom, Bill Matthies, David Bathke, Roger Olson, Russ Hill and Leo Murphy.Ý Arrangements are with the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca.

Mark Stephan Weckwerth was born Aug. 23, 1934 to Carl and Ella (Matthies) Weckwerth in Albert Lea, Minn. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peterís Lutheran Church in New Richland and graduated from New Richland High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army from March 1954 to February 1957. He served in Korea and belonged to the Minnesota National Guard. After completing his service, he attended Dunwoody Institute. He worked as a printer in Owatonna, Austin and in Waseca for nine years. He married Sharon Guyer Sept. 20, 1959 in Waseca, Minn. and the couple had three children. Mark sold insurance in Decorah, Iowa and Little Falls before moving to Milaca in 1977. He managed the J.A. Allen Insurance Agency at the First National Bank in Milaca. Mark was also the manager of the Key Row Apartments for 11 years. He was active in the Milaca community, serving as the Chamber of Commerce Secretary and the Lions Club President. He was also instrumental in helping Milaca becoming a Star City. Mark was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the Milaca Golf Club and the Milaca Legion and VFW. He enjoyed golfing and coin collecting. He died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003 at the St. Cloud Hospital after a struggle with leukemia.

Mark is survived by his wife, Sharon of Milaca; children, Gary and wife Ann of Sioux Falls, S.D., Patsy and husband Tom Gilgenbach of Elk River and Tom and wife Michelle of Buffalo; grandchildren, Paige, Parker, Anne and Riley; brother, Stephan "Tip" Weckwerth of Janesville, Minn.; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
