Robert Pitsch, aged 14, son of Mrs. Ella Pitsch, of Savannah Road, died in the New Castle hospital at 8 o'clock Sunday morning from gunshot wounds received Saturday, the second victim of the hunting season in Lawrence county.

Pitsch received wounds about the head when he stepped out in front of William Bowden, aged 16, a companion with whom he was hunting on the property of the Shenango Limestone company, two miles south of the city, Saturday.

According to the story told Coroner Orville Potter, the two boys, along with Allison Pitsch, an older brother, and R. A. Bowden, father of William Bowden, had started out hunting earlier in the day. Mr. Bowden, who was employed by the Shenango Limestone company left them a little later to do some work, and the three boys continued hunting.

They were walking along in a row, young Bowden on the right end of the line, Allison Pitsch on the left end, and Robert Pitsch, in the center. A rabbit jumped up in front of William Bowden, and startled to run across in front of them. Robert Pitsch stepped out to take a shot just as Bowden fired, the load striking him in the head at a distance of about 30 feet. Several of the pellets penetrated the skull.

Assistance was summoned and he was brought to the New Castle hospital, where he lived until Sunday morning.
Mrs. Pitsch, mother of the deceased was housekeeper for Mr. Bowden, it is said, the two families living together on the Savannah Road.

Robert leaves, in addition to his mother, three brothers, F. Allison, Charles and Marvin Pitsch, all of New Castle R. D. 1.

Funeral services will be conducted at the home of Ralph Bowden, near Savannah church, New Castle R. D. 1, Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, and interment will be made in Savannah cemetery. The services are to be in charge of the Savannah M. E. pastor, Rev. E. N. Engle, assisted by Rev. R. J. Fredericks of the Calvary Presbyterian church.
