~OBITUARY OF MRS. ANNA ELIZABETH STABEL

Mrs. Anna Elizabeth STABEL, born SCHOENHALS, a longtime resident of Lipscomb County, passed away, while at the home of Ed SCHNEIDER here in Darrouzett, at noon, twenty minutes past 12, on Thursday, September the 12th, at an age of 88 years, 8 months, and 22 days. On the last day of August she became bedridden; old age was the immediate cause of her death. She was born on the 22nd of December 1868 in Stefan, a German colony on the Volga River in Russia; there she spent the first 26 years of her life; there she was also received into the Lutheran Church through Baptism, and later, in 1883, through the rite of Confirmation, into adult membership; and there she was also married. She was married to Henry STABEL in 1890. In 1904 they came to the U. S. First, they lived in Kansas, and later moved to their homestead between Shattuck, Oklahoma and Higgins, Texas. In 1912, they moved to their farm east of Lipscomb. After their retirement from farming they resided in the town of Lipscomb. In 1940, they were privileged to celebrate their Gold Wedding Anniversary. Mr. STABEL died on March 31, 1945. Both, Mr. and Mrs. STABEL, were charter members of St. John's Lutheran Congregation of Lipscomb, and loyally held themselves to the same; they desired to remain God's children. In her widowhood, Mrs. STABEL continued the same desire; unless it was absolutely impossible for her to be present at any of our church services, she was in her accustomed place. She was also a faithful member of the Lutheran Ladies' Aid Society. She was respected and loved by all who knew her. Of the ten children of Mr. and Mrs. STABEL the oldest two had died in early childhood. Those now mourning the loss of the departed are: Marie, Mrs. Ed SCHNEIDER of Darrouzett, Fred, also of Darrouzett, Emma, Mrs. Richard FOX of Lipscomb, Alma, Mrs. Rudolf KOCH, Higgins, Henry, Hereford, Texas, Frieda, Mrs. John PEIL, Lipscomb, Leah, Mrs. John ALLEN, Wichita Falls, Texas, George of Follett, Texas, twenty grandchildren;twenty-eight great-grandchildren, one brother, John SCHOENHALS, a sister, Mrs. Katie YAUCK, and many other relatives.
