17-Year-Old Youth Loses Life in Tragic Accident; Last Rites Held Here Friday --

Funeral services were conducted here Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Trinity Lutheran Church for Ronald Cordes, who passed away last Tuesdy morning at a hospital in Rexburg, Idaho, from injuries received in a truck-train crash. (Details of funeral followed.)

Ronald George Cordes, the son of Minnie and George Cordes, was born July 9, 1937 at Wolbach, Nebraska and passed away October 19, 1954 at Rexburg, Idaho at the age of 17 years, 3 months and 10 days. All his life was spent in this community, excepting the time spent in Idaho where he had employment, which was from the first part of August of this year until the time of his death. Ronald graduated last spring from the Wolbach High School. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The services were unusally well attended.

He leaves to mourn his passing besides his parents: one sister, Jo Ann; two brothers, Richard and Donald; all at home and many relatives and friends.

(Long description of accident followed.)

Young Cordes, the fourth victim of the accident, died of injuries about 9:15 a.m. Tuesday before his parents and brother Richard had time to reach his bedside...

Ronald left the first part of August for Idaho and was staying with Mr. and Mrs. Neil Cantral, former residents, while working in the potato fields. He planned to help finish the harvest, then return home. (List of out-of-town attendees foloowed.)
