Clair T. Simmel, age 100, passed away, Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Countryside Nursing Home in Pilot Point. She was born January 28, 1911, to Louis Rudolph and Catherine Sloan Tschoepe in Pilot Point. Clair married Henry J. Simmel on November 14, 1933 in Pilot Point. She was a homemaker.
Rosary will be on Monday, March 14, 2011, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Pilot Point at 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 10:30 am also at the St. Thomas Catholic Church with Monsignor Jerry Duesman officiating. Pallbearers are, Tommy Simmel, Kenny Simmel, Chris Simmel, Clayton Whitley, Paul Tischler, and Jerry Don Whitley.
Clair is survived by three sons, Clifford and wife Lola Simmel of Arlington, Nick and Gayle Simmel of Pilot Point, and Matt and Patty Simmel of Denton; three daughters, Deannie Tischler of Austin, Ruth and Bill Boyd of Waco, and Kathy and Jerry Don Whitley of Pilot Point.Clair is also survived by eight grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vera Duesman of Pilot Point and Bert Holly of McKinney; as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews. She is predeceased in death by her parents, her husband, Henry; one sister, Patsy Simmel and one grand-daughter Sharon Parish.
Services are under the direction of Huff/Slay Funeral Home in Pilot Point.
