Bertha Becker, 96, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at Morys Haven in Columbus.
The funeral service will be Friday, November 5, 10:30 A.M. at Christ Lutheran Church with Rev. Aaron Witt officiating. Interment will be in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Friday from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 10:15 A.M. Memorials are suggested to those of the donor's choice.
Bertha Becker was born October 1, 1914, in rural Colfax County to Wilhelm and Louise (Grotelueschen) Loseke. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church. She attended school at Christ Lutheran and graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus in 1932.
Bertha married Willie Becker of Alhorn, Germany, on October 4, 1935, at Christ Lutheran Church. They farmed and lived south of Leigh until they moved to Columbus in 1973.
As a humble servant of the Lord, Bertha was a long-time member of Christ Lutheran Church and did quilting for many years in the church basement. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, which she attended faithfully while her health permitted.
