Henry Stegeman was born on October 10, 1856. He married Adelheidt Nilgers and they had one child, Joseph Stegemann Sr. He then married Katherine Schauwecker on April 27, 1897, and lived in a log house on Castle Rock Road. In 1914, Henry bought land near St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and built a two-story house for his family. Henry and Katherine assisted in many ways in the St. Anthony of Padua Church and school. They could be found helping the children who would stay with them to go to school and First Communion/Confirmation classes.

Henry and Katherine had five children: Louis, Cecelia, Vincent, Clara and Ella. Louis was born February 17, 1898, married Sophia Beutel on July 21, 1925, and lived in Folk before moving to nearby Meta, Missouri. They had two children, Louis Stgegeman, Jr. and Dolores Wieberg. Cecelia was born on May 18, 1900, married and moved to St. Louis Missouri. Cecelia had no children. Vincent was born December 2, 1902, lived in Folk unitil his death on August 20, 1924. Clara was born on August 11, 1905, married Fred Sliger on June 23, 1926, and moved to St. Louis, Missouri. They had three children: Betty Kile, Bob, and Don Sliger. Ella was born March 6, 1908, married Vincent Cassmeyer on October 20, 1930, and lived in Folk. They had five children: Stanley, Ronald and Dennis Cassmeyer, Patricia Schmid and Shirley Strother.

Middle name was Gerhard.
