Mr. Maack was born Sept. 1, 1911, in Otter Tail County, Minn., where he attended school. On May 4, 1941, he married Genora Wigdahl in Rothsay, Minn. They farmed near Underwood, Minn., and Erhard, Minn. They then farmed near Fergus Falls from 1949 to 1976. He also had several other jobs, including carpentry and bridge building, and was a township tax assessor for 30 years. They moved into Fergus Falls in 1993 and to Alexandria in 2003.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Paul (Mary Lou), Alexandria, Gregory (Mary Beth), Noblesville, Ind.; a daughter, Wyonne Long, in Norway; two brothers, Harold (Alma), Babbitt, Minn., Elroy (Mary Lou), Elizabeth, Minn.; a sister, Helen (Pete) Hamlin, of Kansas; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Tuesday from 4 to 7, with a prayer service at 6:30, in Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls, and Wednesday from 10 to 11 in Hedemarken Lutheran Church near Carlisle, Minn.
Funeral: Wednesday at 11 in the church.
Burial: Hedemarken Cemetery near Carlisle.

Walter Maack
Since 1949, he was an active member of the Hedemarken Lutheran Church of Carlisle and served as a member of the church council. He was also a District 222 school board member from 1949 to 1974 and was a member and director of the Minnesota Association of Public Schools. He served as treasurer of the Wilcox Mission Society and also was on the board of the Carlisle Oil Company.
His hobbies included fishing, hunting, woodworking, quilting and latch hooking.
He is survived by his wife, Genora; three children: Wyonne Long of Oslo, Norway, Paul (Mary Lou) Maack of Alexandria and Gregory (Mary Beth) Maack of Noblesville, Ind.; six grandchildren: Erik Long, Michelle (Charles) Friederichs, Sheila (Douglas) Hegg, Jennifer, Kristin and Molly Maack; great-grandchildren, Zoe and Sydney Friederichs and Stormy and Logan Hegg; two brothers, Harold (Alma) Maack of Babbit and Elroy (Mary Lou) Maack of Elizabeth; and one sister, Helen (Pete) Hamlin of Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters: Marie Boese, LaVerne Overland, Fern Seeyle and Ethel Salmon; and three brothers: Max, Alvin and Ernest.
Visitation: Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hedemarken Lutheran Church, rural Carlisle
