He was born July 29, 1921 in LeRoy to Gerald and Faye Van Deventer Bock. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Merlyn and Eldon Bock. He married Madelyn Griffin on May 29, 1949 in Clinton. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Fritz (Susan), Peoria; Kurt (Carol), Bloomington and Garth, Bloomington; two daughters, Julie (Jules) Blank, Green Bay, Wisconsin and Liz (Doug) Oakley, Murfreesburo, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Stephen (Jennie) Bock, Jonathan (Jennifer) Bock, Andrea Blank, Jackie Blank, Rob Blank, Rebecca Bock, Griffin Oakley and Mitchell Oakley and two great-grandchildren, Hudsen and Selah Bock.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in 1941 and was a combat photographer in the Pacific Theater, serving tours in the Philippines and New Guinea. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
