MICHAEL TOBIASON
MONTICELLO....Mike Tobiason, 81, died at John McDonald hospital Thursday afternoon, Sept 2, after an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were held Monday a.m. Sept 6, at 10:30 from the Wayne Zion Lutheran church. The Rev. Luther Wachholz officiated at the services and burial was made at Oakwood cemetery.
Michael Rieken Tobiason, was born March 11, 1884, near Monticello, the son of Jurgen and Alkha Tobiason. He attended Jones county rural schools and was married to Lena Rickels. Two sons were born, Vernon G and Melvin G. His son Vernon died Sept 25, 1916, and his wife died Aug 2, 1920. He later married Catherine Caspers on June 1, 1927, and the couple lived near Monticello on a farm until moving to Monticello a number of years ago. They made their home at 115 North Main Street. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife Catherine Tobiason; one son, Melvin G. Tobiason; a granddaughter; one brother, Henry, and one sister, Mrs. Dora Schoon, all of Monticello.
Pallbearers were Harvey Stutt, Fred Stutt, Paul Caspers, Henry Caspers, Henry Hayen and H.W.G. Folkers.
